A Provident fund or Employee’s Provident Fund (EPF) in simple terms is an investment fund that is set up jointly by the employer and employee for the long term to support the employer upon retirement as a form of savings. This is regulated by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and is controlled by the Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.
