Hassan is a city and the district headquarters of Hassan district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town is situated 980 m above sea level. It is named after the Hasanamba temple. Hassan is 183 kilometres west of Bangalore, 119 kilometres north of Mysore, and 171 kilometres east of Mangalore by road.
