The term "foster care associates" refers to a system in which a juvenile has been assigned to a ward, group home (residential child care community, treatment facility, etc.), or private residence of a state-certified caretaker, sometimes known as a "foster parent," or with a family member authorized by the state. Typically, a social service organization or the government arranges for the child's placement. Except when living with a family member, the institution, group home, or foster parent receives payment for their expenditures.
