About Company:- When Jim Whitaker started the company that became Smart’s Publishing, he had already worked in the insurance industry as an underwriter, insurance broker, agency consultant and marketing manager. The firm started out providing marketing communications and advertising services to a number of California excess and surplus lines agencies. When Smart’s acquired the Western Association of Insurance Brokers as a public relations client, it began to publish a newsletter for agents and brokers called Insurance Update. That newsletter eventually became the cornerstone of Smart’s Publishing’s principal business, providing marketing communications services to insurance agents and brokers nationwide.
