IIT Kharagpur:- Established in 1951 and inaugurated by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, IIT Kharagpur tops the chart of engineering colleges. It is located to the west of Kolkata and is well connected with the Kharagpur's railway station.  It is well known and ranked high because of its world-class research facilities and laboratories. 2.  IIT Mumbai:-IIT Bombay is ranked second in the list of engineering colleges. Established in the year 1958, IIT Bombay offers several graduate programs in Science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics. With UNESCO's assistance and funds from Soviet Union, it is located at the suburbs of Mumbai, Powai, and 29 KMs from the city of Mumbai.
