The Challenge
Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Centre consulted ASRS to conduct a wall tie investigation at a large commercial property. Although there were no obvious signs of movement, one panel of masonry had leaned outward by 80mm at the top. After a thorough survey, it was determined that the inner and outer layers of masonry lacked sufficient wall ties to connect them properly.

The Solution
ASRS carried out numerous tests and endoscope surveys to assess the existing ties. Pull out tests were carried out on various remedial wall ties and the Helifix resi-tie achieved the best pull out results achieving pull out ratings at over 2.5KN’s. The masonry was drilled only requiring a 12mm hole and the tie installed using portable drills and then resin fixed on the outer leaf.
