What is the Difference Between Warehouse and Inventory

While often used together in logistics and supply chain management, warehouse and inventory refer to two distinct concepts. A warehouse is the physical space or facility where goods are stored, organized, and managed—whether temporarily or long-term. It can include equipment, staff, and systems to handle receiving, storage, and shipping of products. On the other hand, inventory refers to the actual goods, materials, or products stored within that warehouse or other locations. It represents the quantity and value of items a business has on hand for production, sales, or distribution. In essence, the warehouse is where items are stored, and inventory is what is being stored.
