Impact of Groundwater Polluting Sources on Distribution of Pollutants

Supply of safe drinking water is a major priority in many societies. However, pollution is still a major challenge towards achieving the goal of clean drinking water. In most places, drinking water is obtained from two sources; ground water and surface water. Many studies have focused on pollution of surface water. This trend is based on the assumption that ground water is not heavily polluted since their sources are protected. All sources of water contain contaminants. Ground water can also contain pollutants that originate from the geological composition of areas through which the water passes.
