Roughly the size of California, Morocco falls in the middle of a list of African countries ranked by size. It packs a remarkable amount of diversity into its borders, much of it due to its history. The land was once part of ancient Carthage, and later became the westernmost province of the Roman Empire. It has been sacked by the Portuguese and Moorish Spain, and, until 1956, was a French protectorate.

The previous evening we had arrived at the town’s tiny train station and hauled our bags to the Quality Bøden Hotel for the night. This morning our plan was to return through the town’s quiet streets to board our 11:51 train to Haparanda

Adventure begins where comfort ends. It starts the moment familiar routines are left behind and the unknown takes over. For many travelers, the true value of a journey is not measured by distance covered or landmarks visited, but by the personal shifts that happen along the way. Moments of uncertainty, cultural discovery, and self-reliance transform simple trips into powerful life experiences. These are the stories that linger long after the journey ends.
45 years later, Close Encounters of the Third Kind still entertains and thrills audiences. It’s a sci-fi classic with an epic, landmark location that audiences never forget. Steven Spielberg’s choice of Devils Tower for the finale of Close Encounters of the Third Kind remains one of modern cinema’s biggest, mind-blowing final reel moments.
Travel has evolved far beyond sightseeing and quick photo stops. Modern explorers are searching for journeys that feel meaningful—experiences that offer connection, challenge, and discovery rather than surface-level impressions.
Every great journey begins with a spark — a desire to step out of the familiar and experience the unknown. From scaling mountains to exploring remote villages, adventure travel transforms the way we see the world. It’s not just about adrenaline or photographs; it’s about collecting moments that shape character and deepen understanding.
