Charlize Theron plays Aileen Wuornos in the film Monster (2003). The film is based on the real-life story of serial killer Aileen Wuornos who was executed in 2002. Director Patty Jenkins and Charlize Theron discover the aspect of aggression and anger in the prostitute serial killer and the people in general. Aileen kills her first victim out of self defense after the man violently rapes and tortures her.
