Toxicology studies in drug development - NorthEast BioLab
A toxicology study refers to the testing of a compound or medicine on mammals, usually rats or rabbits, to determine its toxicity. This is important information that needs to be shared before a drug is approved by the FDA for commercial use. Toxicology studies must be conducted for all new drugs and some biologics and devices, such as those involved in cardiac surgery.
